The Cathedral of Modena
The Cathedral of Modena, dedicated to San Geminiano, is one of the most important Romanesque masterpieces in Italy and a UNESCO world heritage site since 1997. The construction of the cathedral began in 1099 based on a design by the architect Lanfranco, with the collaboration of the sculptor Wiligelmo, author of the splendid sculptural decorations of the facade.
